We're rewarded with a sublime sunset over the back field
The chickens have come back from foraging in the field and have put themselves to bed with full crops and the last of the day's warmth trapped in their feathers.
Karen - I am just about the most basic unimaginative cook in the world. I can always use new ideas myself!
Paula - I'll post another picture after a week's worth of rain and you'll be glad that you don't live in the country!
Colette - I admit to a few minutes hanging over the fence and watching the chickens come home before finishing my chores. Sunsets like that pass by so quickly.
Maybe this will help. This is a site that I go to a lot for ideas and especially seafood recipes. Maybe this will help! You'll probably have to cut and paste, I don't think it will link. Good luck!
Isn't it lovely -- chickens at dusk? My hens crowd around me with the hope of getting some scratch before bedtime. I just put my pullets out into the chicken tractor (in a smaller cage within the tractor so they and the older hens can get used to each other) and visiting all my girls at twilight (and collecting eggs) is a small highlight of an ordinary day.
Jennifer ~ Sometimes I come here just to see what YOU'RE having for dinner. Thanks for the great ideas!
ReplyDeleteman I wish I lived in the country....
ReplyDeleteBliss. Hope you managed to sit and enjoy the golden sunlight, even for just a moment.....

Karen - Thanks for the link, I'm grateful for any inspiration. What did we do before the internet?!?

ReplyDeleteMartha - I love your phrase "a small highlight of an ordinary day". That sums things up perfectly. And who could want any more than that?
