I brought my two ewes expecting triplets in to the orchard so I could keep an eye on them through the storms. At 5am this morning, in 50mph winds, Horned ewe decided to have her triplets -
One boy and two girls. They are small but strong, and were out and on their feet without my help. A good lambing was had by all.
So what's our head count now? I've lost track. "X dropped and Y to go..." Congratulations from the subarctic where I feature it's warmer here with calmer winds. And the lowest snowfall on record by more than 10 inches (20+ inches total accumulation). I hope you have a dog bed on the kitchen floor strategically placed for your next nap.
ReplyDeleteJanice - I've lost count too, but I write everything down....so...10 lambs altogether so far, 3 rams and 7 ewes. We're expecting 36 lambs in total if the scanner guy is accurate, so I have to fit 26 more lambs in the garden. It will be a party for sure! Glad to hear you're not snowed in at least.
ReplyDeleteYou should name them Daenerys, Rhaegar, and Viserys. Obviously the latter two should be headed to ice camp (aka The Land of Always Winter).

Nan - Gregor is still with us. I coddle her with special foods, vitamin injections, and glucose injections. I also bottle feed her lambs (though they live with her) to take the pressure off her to make milk - a hugely calorific strain. I did have a stillborn lamb the other night though, so you don't win them all.
