New Post on the Way

Sorry, guys. We have had an exceptionally warm, dry spell of spring weather and we're working like the dickens to take advantage of it. So, I haven't been indoors on my computer blogging; I've been outside on a mini-digger, eh..digging. And lambing of course-

We have 7 so far: 6 girls and a boy. There are only 8 more ewes to lamb. And both the goats still to kid.

I promise to put up a longer post, with lots of photos and updates, before the week is out. Thanks for hanging in there with me!

Your lack of blogging makes me aware of the agricultural year! When there is a break in your blogging I mentally go through what the hold up could be; lamping, a shoot etc :-)

Spring is busy everywhere! So glad you are busy in a positive way. The lamb is exceptionally cute.

I don't know how you ever find time to blog at all! Look forward to reading your update when you get a mo.

Didn't you used to lamb in autumn? What made you switch?

I love your blog and I know Herefordshire quite well having spent a while growing up next door in Malvern. The politeness in apologising for not posting makes you a princess among bloggers. I hope Dakota has a new friend by the fire soon, all the best from Somerset.

Good luck with the rest of the lambing run!

We know you're busy because it's Springtime! But please, please remember to include lamb photos.

Hazel - So sorry for the late reply! Yes you are absolutely right - we did used to lamb in the autumn. I changed because we don't have shelters for lambing here and it's much colder where we are now. However, we are going to have a barn built (hopefully this year) and I may go back to lambing at least some of the flock in autumn, to catch the best prices in market the following Spring. And I put 3 ewes that missed out on lambing this month back in with the rams for another try. If it works we will be having a few lambs this autumn, and I can keep them in the lean-to shelter next to the hatching barn which fits 3 ewes just right!
